Last updated:1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a website places in your browser. Some are needed for a site to work or stay secure. Others are used to follow you from site to site, often for advertising.
2. What this site uses
This site places no advertising, profiling or tracking cookies.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare Web Analytics | Counts visits in aggregate and anonymously. Uses no cookies and builds no profile. |
| Cloudflare security | Cloudflare, which hosts the site, may set a strictly necessary technical cookie to block malicious bots. It is not used for advertising or tracking. |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | On the ideas board only, when enabled: checks that you're not a bot before you submit. Not used for advertising or tracking. |
| Fonts | Hosted on the site itself. No connection to Google. |
| Stripe (coming) | On the payment page only, once sales open: cookies needed for payment security and fraud prevention. |
The ideas board moderation area keeps a session open in the administrator's browser until the tab is closed. This does not affect any visitor.
3. Why there is no banner
Quebec's Law 25 requires any technology that can identify, locate or profile you to be turned off by default. This site uses none, so there is nothing to accept or refuse.
If a non-essential tool were ever added, it would stay off until you accepted it, and this page would be updated first.
4. Managing cookies in your browser
You can view and delete cookies at any time in your browser settings (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge). Blocking security cookies may prevent some features, such as submitting an idea or paying.
